Access control: acceptance testing and sign-off

Try an authorised user, a revoked credential and a user outside the allowed schedule. Verify the relevant exit devices and agreed door status reporting with the responsible installer.

Why this decision matters

Signing off only that devices are powered leaves the practical outcome and unresolved defects unverified.

Work through the actual task

  1. Try valid, revoked and out-of-schedule credentials on the agreed doors.
  2. Verify intended release, closure and relevant event reporting.
  3. Keep a signed test record with any outstanding items and the date for follow-up.

The outcome to verify

  • Test valid, revoked and out-of-schedule access according to the agreed design. Verify the relevant release and closing behaviour, and demonstrate routine user administration. Retain the door schedule, authorised configuration backup and supported recovery process.

Worked example

The access system is ready for acceptance testing. This is a hypothetical example, not a completed customer installation.

The useful evidence at the end of this example is: A door/credential test matrix and an owner for outstanding issues.

Limits and follow-up

Door security must preserve safe exit. Have the appropriate qualified professionals confirm the door and emergency release design.

If the relevant check cannot be completed, record what remains uncertain and who will resolve it before work or sign-off proceeds.
