SYDNEY ALARMS / GUIDE

Home alarms: maintenance and follow-up checks

Use the authorised test mode and arrange monitoring test status first where applicable. Check detectors individually and record their zone names so a future fault can be located without guesswork.

Why this decision matters

A powered-on indicator does not prove that the detection, recording, release or reporting outcome still works.

Work through the actual task

  1. Compare its view with the original zone plan and pet routes.
  2. Arrange an authorised walk test and corrective positioning if required.
  3. Assign each follow-up to a person and book qualified service for internal electrical work.

Worked example

A movement sensor is partly hidden by a new bookcase. This is a hypothetical example, not a completed customer installation.

The useful evidence at the end of this example is: A zone-by-zone test result with any coverage change recorded.

Limits and follow-up

A siren, an app alert and professional monitoring are separate features. Confirm who receives a signal and what they are expected to do.

If the relevant check cannot be completed, record what remains uncertain and who will resolve it before work or sign-off proceeds.
