Business security: preparing for the work

Nominate a site contact who can approve positions and arrange access. Identify trading restrictions, stock areas and the equipment that must stay working throughout the change.

Why this decision matters

Unresolved access or decision authority can delay work or leave a change awaiting approval.

Work through the actual task

  1. Nominate an authorised site contact and essential operating areas.
  2. Agree access windows, interruptions and work approval arrangements.
  3. Confirm access times, parking arrangements and any restrictions on noisy work before the visit.

Worked example

Installation is planned while the business remains open. This is a hypothetical example, not a completed customer installation.

The useful evidence at the end of this example is: A staged work plan that staff can follow during trading.

Limits and follow-up

Agree a service scope in writing. Hardware supply, cabling, networking, monitoring and response attendance may be priced separately.

If the relevant check cannot be completed, record what remains uncertain and who will resolve it before work or sign-off proceeds.
