Why this decision matters
A low initial price can be misleading when a required feature depends on an unlisted recurring service.
Work through the actual task
- Identify which consumables and replacements are chargeable.
- Ask how repair labour and return visits are approved.
- Request an itemised first-year and recurring cost summary with renewal conditions.
Costs to separate for this system
Compare the actual service scope, included time, tested devices and reporting. Batteries, recorder drives, extra callouts and corrective repairs may be separate charges. An accurate equipment register and useful fault history help define work; a generic annual-service label does not explain what will be checked.
Worked example
A low service price excludes batteries and recorder drives. This is a hypothetical example, not a completed customer installation.
The useful evidence at the end of this example is: A realistic service budget that separates routine work from fault repair.
Limits and follow-up
Arrange tests with the monitoring provider first where applicable. Do not trigger a response service without following the agreed test process.
If the relevant check cannot be completed, record what remains uncertain and who will resolve it before work or sign-off proceeds.
