SYDNEY ALARMS / GUIDE

Alarm monitoring: user permissions and access changes

List who can amend contacts, request test mode and cancel responses. Remove former staff or occupiers from the authorised list, not just from the panel keypad.

Why this decision matters

Removing a person from a contact list does not necessarily revoke their device or platform permissions.

Work through the actual task

  1. Review account authority separately from alarm keypad users.
  2. Remove obsolete authorities and confirm current change-approval contacts.
  3. Review the user list after a staff departure, tenancy change or lost credential.

Worked example

A former manager remains authorised to change the monitoring account. This is a hypothetical example, not a completed customer installation.

The useful evidence at the end of this example is: An up-to-date provider-authorised contact list.

Limits and follow-up

Ask which communications paths and backup power are included. Internet, mobile coverage and subscription dependencies should be clear before activation.

If the relevant check cannot be completed, record what remains uncertain and who will resolve it before work or sign-off proceeds.
