Why this decision matters
Loss of a remote feature should not be confused with proof that every local function has failed.
Work through the actual task
- Identify the local call and release functions that remain independent.
- Agree how management is informed of an outage.
- Write down the expected behaviour during a connection loss and the way the system reports it.
Worked example
Mobile answering depends on a shared building internet service. This is a hypothetical example, not a completed customer installation.
The useful evidence at the end of this example is: A dependency note distinguishing unit faults from a shared network loss.
Limits and follow-up
Do not assume a resident can authorise changes to common property. Confirm the approval process and the person authorised to accept the work.
If the relevant check cannot be completed, record what remains uncertain and who will resolve it before work or sign-off proceeds.
