Why this decision matters
A photograph of one device cannot establish all relevant cable, power, lighting and operating conditions.
Work through the actual task
- Survey common stations, representative units and differing equipment types.
- Check wiring topology and access constraints before finalising scope.
- Ask for the proposed positions and any unresolved assumptions to be marked on a simple plan.
Worked example
The proposed building-wide replacement is based on one apartment photo. This is a hypothetical example, not a completed customer installation.
The useful evidence at the end of this example is: A building inventory with remaining survey assumptions explicitly listed.
Limits and follow-up
Do not assume a resident can authorise changes to common property. Confirm the approval process and the person authorised to accept the work.
If the relevant check cannot be completed, record what remains uncertain and who will resolve it before work or sign-off proceeds.
