Security upgrades: planning around renovations

Coordinate the upgrade with new cable routes, doors and final room layouts. Stage the change so relevant coverage can be recommissioned after building work rather than only before it.

Why this decision matters

Testing before the final layout, lighting or network changes may miss a problem introduced by the completed work.

Work through the actual task

  1. Coordinate cable routes, finishes and final device positions.
  2. Stage recommissioning after affected building work is complete.
  3. Photograph agreed cable positions before walls close and keep the images with the handover documents.

Worked example

Security equipment is upgraded before a renovation's final layout is known. This is a hypothetical example, not a completed customer installation.

The useful evidence at the end of this example is: A final-layout acceptance plan rather than an early incomplete coverage test.

Limits and follow-up

A new panel or recorder may change app access and ongoing costs. Include user migration, account ownership and demonstrations in the quotation.

If the relevant check cannot be completed, record what remains uncertain and who will resolve it before work or sign-off proceeds.
