Security upgrades: user permissions and access changes

Map existing users to the new permissions and remove stale accounts. Do not copy a shared administrator login to every new device simply because it was used on the old platform.

Why this decision matters

Removing a person from a contact list does not necessarily revoke their device or platform permissions.

Work through the actual task

  1. Map current users to the replacement platform's supported roles.
  2. Remove stale users and give everyday users only appropriate permissions.
  3. Review the user list after a staff departure, tenancy change or lost credential.

Worked example

The old shared administrator account is copied to every new device. This is a hypothetical example, not a completed customer installation.

The useful evidence at the end of this example is: A documented user migration with ownership retained by the customer.

Limits and follow-up

A new panel or recorder may change app access and ongoing costs. Include user migration, account ownership and demonstrations in the quotation.

If the relevant check cannot be completed, record what remains uncertain and who will resolve it before work or sign-off proceeds.
