SYDNEY ALARMS / GUIDE

Wireless alarms: planning around renovations

Repeat signal checks after new walls, insulation or large fixtures are installed. Building changes can alter the path between radio devices even when their positions have not changed.

Why this decision matters

Testing before the final layout, lighting or network changes may miss a problem introduced by the completed work.

Work through the actual task

  1. Retest final links after the building work.
  2. Review panel/repeater placement only with supported equipment.
  3. Photograph agreed cable positions before walls close and keep the images with the handover documents.

Worked example

New wall insulation may alter previously tested radio coverage. This is a hypothetical example, not a completed customer installation.

The useful evidence at the end of this example is: An updated device/link result for the completed building layout.

Limits and follow-up

Do not assume wireless devices from different ranges work together. Obtain a written compatible device list for the specific panel and firmware.

If the relevant check cannot be completed, record what remains uncertain and who will resolve it before work or sign-off proceeds.
