Before the assessment
Prepare an entry list and a simple plan showing the areas you want to protect. Note any previous faults, blind spots or user difficulties. If you have equipment already, photograph readable model labels without exposing codes.
Walk the actual property
Show the arrival route, side entries, garage, relevant stock or storage areas and the proposed equipment locations. Point out difficult roof access, shared wiring, gates, building work and any restrictions on mounting devices.
Turn concerns into a written scope
Ask which device addresses each priority, what the design cannot do and which assumptions need checking. Include night visibility, notification recipients, permissions and account ownership in the discussion.
After the visit
Review the equipment list, installation work, exclusions and total price. Keep unanswered questions separate from agreed inclusions so they can be resolved before work starts.
Assessment evidence to keep
| Stage | Useful information | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Before | Plan, entry list, existing models and priorities | A clear brief for the survey |
| At the property | Target views, cable routes, shared work and constraints | A marked design with unresolved assumptions |
| Before approval | Exact scope, exclusions, recurring costs and tests | An accepted quote that can be checked at handover |
