SYDNEY ALARMS / GUIDE

Access control: maintenance and follow-up checks

Test the relevant door closer, latch, reader and release devices under the service procedure. A controller reporting granted access does not prove that a misaligned door closes securely.

Why this decision matters

A powered-on indicator does not prove that the detection, recording, release or reporting outcome still works.

Work through the actual task

  1. Inspect the closer/latch alignment through the approved service process.
  2. Test the complete door as well as its credential response.
  3. Assign each follow-up to a person and book qualified service for internal electrical work.

Worked example

A reader grants access but a door does not latch shut. This is a hypothetical example, not a completed customer installation.

The useful evidence at the end of this example is: A mechanical and electronic result for the same door.

Limits and follow-up

Door security must preserve safe exit. Have the appropriate qualified professionals confirm the door and emergency release design.

If the relevant check cannot be completed, record what remains uncertain and who will resolve it before work or sign-off proceeds.
