SYDNEY ALARMS / GUIDE

Access control: user permissions and access changes

Use role-based groups where supported and remove access promptly. Keep a named approver for high-permission credentials. Avoid leaving a universal contractor credential active indefinitely.

Why this decision matters

Removing a person from a contact list does not necessarily revoke their device or platform permissions.

Work through the actual task

  1. Identify the credential and assigned groups.
  2. Revoke access and review any shared or temporary codes used on the job.
  3. Review the user list after a staff departure, tenancy change or lost credential.

Worked example

A contractor's project has ended but their card still works. This is a hypothetical example, not a completed customer installation.

The useful evidence at the end of this example is: A dated credential audit confirming the contractor's access has ended.

Limits and follow-up

Door security must preserve safe exit. Have the appropriate qualified professionals confirm the door and emergency release design.

If the relevant check cannot be completed, record what remains uncertain and who will resolve it before work or sign-off proceeds.
