SYDNEY ALARMS / GUIDE

Home alarms: account ownership and recovery

Protect the master code and any associated app account. Change former owner access during a property handover. If a communicator uses a separate account, establish who controls its recovery details.

Why this decision matters

Shared owner access makes individual revocation and future account recovery harder to manage.

Work through the actual task

  1. Identify panel access and platform account ownership separately.
  2. Use the supported ownership transfer and review old user permissions.
  3. Test the supported account recovery procedure and store recovery information securely.

Worked example

The previous owner still controls the alarm app account. This is a hypothetical example, not a completed customer installation.

The useful evidence at the end of this example is: Customer-controlled recovery details and a current authorised-user list.

Limits and follow-up

A siren, an app alert and professional monitoring are separate features. Confirm who receives a signal and what they are expected to do.

If the relevant check cannot be completed, record what remains uncertain and who will resolve it before work or sign-off proceeds.
