SYDNEY ALARMS / GUIDE

Home alarms: equipment records and documentation

Keep a zone list, panel model, detector models and the test record. Record monitoring provider contact details if used. Never write the disarm code on the panel or attach it to the public service log.

Why this decision matters

A list of brand names without locations, models or responsibilities is often insufficient for later service.

Work through the actual task

  1. Identify each detector and match it to its keypad zone name.
  2. Record panel/communicator models, service details and test results.
  3. Nominate the person who updates the record whenever equipment or permissions change.

Worked example

The system has several unnamed zones and no maintenance history. This is a hypothetical example, not a completed customer installation.

The useful evidence at the end of this example is: A complete zone and equipment schedule with secret codes stored elsewhere.

Limits and follow-up

A siren, an app alert and professional monitoring are separate features. Confirm who receives a signal and what they are expected to do.

If the relevant check cannot be completed, record what remains uncertain and who will resolve it before work or sign-off proceeds.
