SYDNEY ALARMS / GUIDE

Home alarms: handover and user training

Practise arming, disarming and any agreed part-arm mode. Demonstrate what the keypad displays after a fault. Confirm how to add and remove a user without disclosing the master code to everyone.

Why this decision matters

A successful installer demonstration is not enough if the intended user cannot repeat the everyday task.

Work through the actual task

  1. Practise normal arming, part arming and authorised user changes.
  2. Have the installer explain a fault display and the approved test process.
  3. Perform the everyday tasks yourself and note any step that needs a written instruction.

Worked example

The owner can disarm but does not understand the fault indicator. This is a hypothetical example, not a completed customer installation.

The useful evidence at the end of this example is: A labelled zone list and operating instructions for the installed keypad.

Limits and follow-up

A siren, an app alert and professional monitoring are separate features. Confirm who receives a signal and what they are expected to do.

If the relevant check cannot be completed, record what remains uncertain and who will resolve it before work or sign-off proceeds.
