CCTV systems: usability and accessibility checks

Demonstrate the app and recorder interface on a screen the user can read. Check whether searching and exporting footage requires fine mouse control, and arrange an easier supported workflow where needed.

Why this decision matters

A feature list cannot show whether the intended person can reach, read, hear or complete the actual control task.

Work through the actual task

  1. Try playback and export on the intended phone or display at normal viewing distance.
  2. Choose a supported everyday workflow the user can complete independently.
  3. Have the intended users try the proposed control method before committing to a final position.

Worked example

A householder finds the recorder menu difficult to read. This is a hypothetical example, not a completed customer installation.

The useful evidence at the end of this example is: A short illustrated instruction sheet for the actual viewing device.

Limits and follow-up

A recorder is not a backup. Export important clips promptly and check that the exported file plays on a separate device.

If the relevant check cannot be completed, record what remains uncertain and who will resolve it before work or sign-off proceeds.
