CCTV systems: handover and user training

Play back a recorded event from each camera, then export a short clip and open it on another device. Check the timestamp and show each authorised user how to find footage without changing recorder settings.

Why this decision matters

A successful installer demonstration is not enough if the intended user cannot repeat the everyday task.

Work through the actual task

  1. Choose a short event on each camera and check its displayed date.
  2. Export a playable clip and open it on a separate device.
  3. Perform the everyday tasks yourself and note any step that needs a written instruction.

Worked example

A user can see live images but has never exported a recording. This is a hypothetical example, not a completed customer installation.

The useful evidence at the end of this example is: An export instruction sheet and a successfully played sample file.

Limits and follow-up

A recorder is not a backup. Export important clips promptly and check that the exported file plays on a separate device.

If the relevant check cannot be completed, record what remains uncertain and who will resolve it before work or sign-off proceeds.
