SYDNEY ALARMS / GUIDE

Business security: planning around renovations

Coordinate the security changes with new partitions, counters and storage layouts. Include temporary protection for areas affected by the work and retest coverage when the fitout is complete.

Why this decision matters

Testing before the final layout, lighting or network changes may miss a problem introduced by the completed work.

Work through the actual task

  1. Review coverage against the final fitout plan.
  2. Coordinate cable work and repeat relevant tests after construction.
  3. Photograph agreed cable positions before walls close and keep the images with the handover documents.

Worked example

A new counter and partition change both camera views and alarm zones. This is a hypothetical example, not a completed customer installation.

The useful evidence at the end of this example is: A revised view/zone plan and post-fitout acceptance results.

Limits and follow-up

Agree a service scope in writing. Hardware supply, cabling, networking, monitoring and response attendance may be priced separately.

If the relevant check cannot be completed, record what remains uncertain and who will resolve it before work or sign-off proceeds.
