Video intercoms: preparing for the work

Show the installer the gate or entry, existing cable ends and the desired monitor position. Have the gate controller details available. Do not assume a low-voltage cable can share every existing conduit.

Why this decision matters

Unresolved access or decision authority can delay work or leave a change awaiting approval.

Work through the actual task

  1. Confirm finished height, approach direction, lighting and cable exit.
  2. Coordinate power, wiring and the authorised gate-controller connection.
  3. Confirm access times, parking arrangements and any restrictions on noisy work before the visit.

Worked example

A door station is planned before the gate pillar is finished. This is a hypothetical example, not a completed customer installation.

The useful evidence at the end of this example is: A marked station position and the installation access arrangement.

Limits and follow-up

An intercom relay does not power every lock. Ask the installer to confirm the lock supply, release method and safe exit arrangement.

If the relevant check cannot be completed, record what remains uncertain and who will resolve it before work or sign-off proceeds.
