Video intercoms: maintenance and follow-up checks

Check call audio, the camera view, button response and each authorised release. Clean the lens and microphone openings only as the manufacturer directs. Report condensation or damage instead of opening the unit.

Why this decision matters

A powered-on indicator does not prove that the detection, recording, release or reporting outcome still works.

Work through the actual task

  1. Check for obstruction, weather damage or changed noise conditions without opening it.
  2. Arrange manufacturer-appropriate cleaning and an audio/release test.
  3. Assign each follow-up to a person and book qualified service for internal electrical work.

Worked example

A station rings but visitors cannot be heard clearly. This is a hypothetical example, not a completed customer installation.

The useful evidence at the end of this example is: A dated check of call, video, audio and authorised release operation.

Limits and follow-up

An intercom relay does not power every lock. Ask the installer to confirm the lock supply, release method and safe exit arrangement.

If the relevant check cannot be completed, record what remains uncertain and who will resolve it before work or sign-off proceeds.
