Why this decision matters
Choosing the device count before defining the target task can leave important requirements outside the design.
Work through the actual task
- Define the answering points and whether gate release is required.
- Separate the local call, mobile call and release function in the brief.
- List your three priorities and ask the installer to show how the proposed design meets each one.
Worked example
A gate visitor should call an indoor screen and an owner's phone. This is a hypothetical example, not a completed customer installation.
The useful evidence at the end of this example is: A call-routing and release diagram for the intended entrance.
Limits and follow-up
An intercom relay does not power every lock. Ask the installer to confirm the lock supply, release method and safe exit arrangement.
If the relevant check cannot be completed, record what remains uncertain and who will resolve it before work or sign-off proceeds.
