Video intercoms: power and backup checks

Trace power for the outdoor station, indoor monitor, network equipment and lock. The ability to see a visitor and the ability to release an entry can behave differently when power fails.

Why this decision matters

Backup for one component does not prove the complete required function remains available.

Work through the actual task

  1. Identify the supply for station, monitor, network and release hardware.
  2. Ask the installer to explain the intended outage and safe-exit behaviour.
  3. Ask the installer to explain the documented backup design and safe test procedure for your equipment.

Worked example

The screen and electric lock use separate power supplies. This is a hypothetical example, not a completed customer installation.

The useful evidence at the end of this example is: A component power schedule and documented release arrangement.

Limits and follow-up

An intercom relay does not power every lock. Ask the installer to confirm the lock supply, release method and safe exit arrangement.

If the relevant check cannot be completed, record what remains uncertain and who will resolve it before work or sign-off proceeds.
