Video intercoms: rental-property permissions and handover

Clarify approval for the entrance station, lock and any common cable system. Agree how mobile answering accounts will transfer at the end of the tenancy without retaining the former tenant’s access.

Why this decision matters

Permission to occupy a property is different from authority to alter shared equipment or transfer its accounts.

Work through the actual task

  1. Identify who owns the station and shared cabling.
  2. Obtain the appropriate approval and confirm supported unit compatibility.
  3. Keep written approval and agree how user access will transfer when occupancy changes.

Worked example

A tenant wants to replace a unit linked to a shared building system. This is a hypothetical example, not a completed customer installation.

The useful evidence at the end of this example is: A documented work authority and account handover arrangement.

Limits and follow-up

An intercom relay does not power every lock. Ask the installer to confirm the lock supply, release method and safe exit arrangement.

If the relevant check cannot be completed, record what remains uncertain and who will resolve it before work or sign-off proceeds.
