Video intercoms: user permissions and access changes

Review who can answer remotely and who can trigger a release. Remove an old phone or resident’s account when access ends. Shared app credentials can make individual removal difficult.

Why this decision matters

Removing a person from a contact list does not necessarily revoke their device or platform permissions.

Work through the actual task

  1. Identify mobile shares and local monitor permissions.
  2. Remove the old user through the platform's supported access process.
  3. Review the user list after a staff departure, tenancy change or lost credential.

Worked example

A resident's old phone still answers visitors after they move. This is a hypothetical example, not a completed customer installation.

The useful evidence at the end of this example is: An updated answering-user list and a test using the authorised devices.

Limits and follow-up

An intercom relay does not power every lock. Ask the installer to confirm the lock supply, release method and safe exit arrangement.

If the relevant check cannot be completed, record what remains uncertain and who will resolve it before work or sign-off proceeds.
