Security maintenance: user permissions and access changes

Review who can view footage, arm the system or administer users. Maintenance access should have an owner and a defined purpose; remove temporary permissions when the work ends.

Why this decision matters

Removing a person from a contact list does not necessarily revoke their device or platform permissions.

Work through the actual task

  1. Review current users and administrator ownership.
  2. Remove obsolete permissions through supported procedures after service.
  3. Review the user list after a staff departure, tenancy change or lost credential.

Worked example

Temporary service accounts have accumulated over several visits. This is a hypothetical example, not a completed customer installation.

The useful evidence at the end of this example is: A dated access review covering contractors as well as occupants.

Limits and follow-up

Arrange tests with the monitoring provider first where applicable. Do not trigger a response service without following the agreed test process.

If the relevant check cannot be completed, record what remains uncertain and who will resolve it before work or sign-off proceeds.
