SYDNEY ALARMS / GUIDE

Alarm monitoring: rental-property permissions and handover

Set out whether the owner or tenant holds the monitoring contract and receives account changes. Update the response contacts when tenancy changes instead of leaving the previous occupier on the list.

Why this decision matters

Permission to occupy a property is different from authority to alter shared equipment or transfer its accounts.

Work through the actual task

  1. Agree the contract holder, account-change authority and response contacts.
  2. Update the plan when occupancy changes rather than only changing keypad codes.
  3. Keep written approval and agree how user access will transfer when occupancy changes.

Worked example

An owner pays for monitoring while a tenant is the first responder. This is a hypothetical example, not a completed customer installation.

The useful evidence at the end of this example is: A role/contact schedule covering tenancy handover.

Limits and follow-up

Ask which communications paths and backup power are included. Internet, mobile coverage and subscription dependencies should be clear before activation.

If the relevant check cannot be completed, record what remains uncertain and who will resolve it before work or sign-off proceeds.
