Security repairs: acceptance testing and sign-off

Repeat the task that previously failed and check any associated alerts or playback. Keep the repair result and any outstanding tests in the service report; intermittent faults may need a defined observation period.

Why this decision matters

Signing off only that devices are powered leaves the practical outcome and unresolved defects unverified.

Work through the actual task

  1. Repeat detection and the intended notification task after repair.
  2. Record the observed receipt and any remaining intermittent condition.
  3. Keep a signed test record with any outstanding items and the date for follow-up.

The outcome to verify

  • Repeat the task that originally failed and document the observed outcome. Keep the diagnosis, changed parts, remaining limitations and any follow-up instructions. For an intermittent issue, agree an observation and reporting process rather than claiming a cause was fixed when it could not be reproduced.

Worked example

The original complaint was unreliable notification delivery. This is a hypothetical example, not a completed customer installation.

The useful evidence at the end of this example is: A repair result measured against the original complaint, not merely a powered-on indicator.

Limits and follow-up

Do not open mains powered equipment or defeat tamper switches. Arrange a qualified service visit when a fault needs internal inspection.

If the relevant check cannot be completed, record what remains uncertain and who will resolve it before work or sign-off proceeds.
