SYDNEY ALARMS / GUIDE

Strata security: preparing for the work

Arrange authorised access to common equipment and affected units. Confirm how residents will be notified and who can approve a change if existing wiring differs from the survey.

Why this decision matters

Unresolved access or decision authority can delay work or leave a change awaiting approval.

Work through the actual task

  1. Identify affected stations and who can authorise changes.
  2. Arrange resident notices and a staged access/work schedule.
  3. Confirm access times, parking arrangements and any restrictions on noisy work before the visit.

Worked example

Some units cannot provide access on the planned installation day. This is a hypothetical example, not a completed customer installation.

The useful evidence at the end of this example is: A clear plan for outstanding units and temporary entry arrangements.

Limits and follow-up

Do not assume a resident can authorise changes to common property. Confirm the approval process and the person authorised to accept the work.

If the relevant check cannot be completed, record what remains uncertain and who will resolve it before work or sign-off proceeds.
