Security upgrades: equipment records and documentation

Keep before-and-after device lists, the accepted migration scope and test results. Record which equipment was removed and which retained items remain outside the new equipment warranty.

Why this decision matters

A list of brand names without locations, models or responsibilities is often insufficient for later service.

Work through the actual task

  1. Keep before/after models, retained limits and commissioning results.
  2. Identify account changes and any equipment outside new warranty scope.
  3. Nominate the person who updates the record whenever equipment or permissions change.

Worked example

The project has no record of what was removed. This is a hypothetical example, not a completed customer installation.

The useful evidence at the end of this example is: A complete migration record supporting future service.

Limits and follow-up

A new panel or recorder may change app access and ongoing costs. Include user migration, account ownership and demonstrations in the quotation.

If the relevant check cannot be completed, record what remains uncertain and who will resolve it before work or sign-off proceeds.
