Security upgrades: planning requirements and priorities

Describe the limitation you want to remove: image detail, extra zones, new access users or remote functionality. Identify the functions that must remain available during migration.

Why this decision matters

Choosing the device count before defining the target task can leave important requirements outside the design.

Work through the actual task

  1. Define the target view and the specific present limitation.
  2. Separate required improvements from equipment that can remain suitable.
  3. List your three priorities and ask the installer to show how the proposed design meets each one.

Worked example

An owner wants better night detail but is offered a generic recorder change. This is a hypothetical example, not a completed customer installation.

The useful evidence at the end of this example is: An upgrade brief measured against identifiable outcomes.

Limits and follow-up

A new panel or recorder may change app access and ongoing costs. Include user migration, account ownership and demonstrations in the quotation.

If the relevant check cannot be completed, record what remains uncertain and who will resolve it before work or sign-off proceeds.
