Security upgrades: power and backup checks

Recalculate the backup power design when equipment changes. Added cameras, switches or communicators can increase load, so the old backup arrangement should not be assumed sufficient.

Why this decision matters

Backup for one component does not prove the complete required function remains available.

Work through the actual task

  1. Have the complete power requirement reviewed.
  2. Ask what backup performance the revised design is intended to provide.
  3. Ask the installer to explain the documented backup design and safe test procedure for your equipment.

Worked example

Additional cameras and a switch increase the old backup load. This is a hypothetical example, not a completed customer installation.

The useful evidence at the end of this example is: An updated power/component schedule rather than reused battery assumptions.

Limits and follow-up

A new panel or recorder may change app access and ongoing costs. Include user migration, account ownership and demonstrations in the quotation.

If the relevant check cannot be completed, record what remains uncertain and who will resolve it before work or sign-off proceeds.
