Security upgrades: rental-property permissions and handover

Clarify which old equipment belongs to the property and which belongs to the occupier. Agree any account transfer and avoid removing common-property equipment without the right authority.

Why this decision matters

Permission to occupy a property is different from authority to alter shared equipment or transfer its accounts.

Work through the actual task

  1. Clarify retained/new ownership and authorisation.
  2. Agree what transfers at occupancy change, including platform access.
  3. Keep written approval and agree how user access will transfer when occupancy changes.

Worked example

A tenant-funded upgrade affects equipment owned by the property. This is a hypothetical example, not a completed customer installation.

The useful evidence at the end of this example is: A documented ownership and handover schedule before removal of old equipment.

Limits and follow-up

A new panel or recorder may change app access and ongoing costs. Include user migration, account ownership and demonstrations in the quotation.

If the relevant check cannot be completed, record what remains uncertain and who will resolve it before work or sign-off proceeds.
