SYDNEY ALARMS / GUIDE

Wireless alarms: acceptance testing and sign-off

Use the authorised walk-test procedure for each enrolled sensor. Check fault reporting and any agreed remote alert route. Record device names so later warnings point to a real location.

Why this decision matters

Signing off only that devices are powered leaves the practical outcome and unresolved defects unverified.

Work through the actual task

  1. Use the authorised walk test for every intended sensor.
  2. Check warning/reporting routes and record exact zone names.
  3. Keep a signed test record with any outstanding items and the date for follow-up.

The outcome to verify

  • Use the authorised test procedure for each enrolled sensor and identify every device by its real location. Demonstrate relevant battery/link warnings and the intended reporting path. Test under realistic building conditions and keep the final device and account ownership records.

Worked example

The installer has enrolled devices but not demonstrated detection. This is a hypothetical example, not a completed customer installation.

The useful evidence at the end of this example is: A location-linked commissioning record, not just an enrolment count.

Limits and follow-up

Do not assume wireless devices from different ranges work together. Obtain a written compatible device list for the specific panel and firmware.

If the relevant check cannot be completed, record what remains uncertain and who will resolve it before work or sign-off proceeds.
