SYDNEY ALARMS / GUIDE

Wireless alarms: handover and user training

Demonstrate low-battery and lost-device indications using the manufacturer’s procedure. Label device positions and explain how an authorised user distinguishes a battery warning from an alarm event.

Why this decision matters

A successful installer demonstration is not enough if the intended user cannot repeat the everyday task.

Work through the actual task

  1. Demonstrate the model's supported status/test procedure.
  2. Match every warning name to a real device location.
  3. Perform the everyday tasks yourself and note any step that needs a written instruction.

Worked example

The owner does not know the difference between low battery and lost link. This is a hypothetical example, not a completed customer installation.

The useful evidence at the end of this example is: A labelled device schedule and clear warning-response instructions.

Limits and follow-up

Do not assume wireless devices from different ranges work together. Obtain a written compatible device list for the specific panel and firmware.

If the relevant check cannot be completed, record what remains uncertain and who will resolve it before work or sign-off proceeds.
